After defeating Justin Gaethje via triangle choke, Khabib Nurmagomedov made a shocking revelation – retirement.
The UFC undisputed lightweight champion was in tears after the victory, knowing that it will be his last fight but mostly dedicating his late father\’s victory.
Nurmagomedov remains unbeaten with 29-0. He still has a lot left for his career. However, the death of his father was a massive blow to him.
His father was there in his fights, supporting him.
Khabib was already emotional when he made the scale during the weigh-in.
“There’s no way I’m going to be back without my father,” he said after the fight.
His father died due to the coronavirus. He was weakened by the disease and was significantly affected because he just had heart surgery.
Adbulmanap Nurmagomedov was also Khabib’s trainer.
This scenario was similar to what happened to Michael Jordan in 1993. After winning the Chicago Bulls\’ third straight championship, Jordan was on the floor crying as he mourned his father, who was killed.
Hence, the similarities also opened a conversation where he stands in the greatest of all-time list in the UFC.
He is placed second all-time. Jon Jones still holds the top spot. But did his recent win made a difference?
It was the third successful title defense of Khabib.
Here is the other noticeable feat the Nurmagomedov made.
Most of her matches have the same faith in a takedown in a single fight match. In 2003, he made 21 successful takedowns against Abel Trujillo.
He had the most gate attendance fight. Khabib-McGregor. One of the most intense matches in UFC history. It shattered several records.
And of course, his clean record of 29 wins and no defeat.

31-year old Inoue will defend his undisputed super bantamweight title against Nery.

29-year-old challenger Nery has the WBC and Ring magazine bantamweight titles plus the WBC super bantamweight title from 2020 to May 2021.

Former UFC fighter Francis Ngannou accused AJ camp of ‘trickery’ when he suffered devastating knockdowns in the first and second round last March 8, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The MMA fighter and former UFC heavyweight champion said that AJ camp sabotaged him by letting him go early in the arena.

“We both fought at 3am. What I think, something that’s happened is that they get me to the arena very early. Like my pickup time was 10.30pm to go to the arena. And then when we get to the arena, they tell us that we are scheduled around 1.45am. right?” Ngannou blurted.

He believed that he came exhausted, which resulted in his humiliating defeat.

Texas Department urges Mike Tyson to pass EEG, EKG tests

The 57-year old legend Mike Tyson (50 wins – 6 loss) vs 27-year old YouTuber Jake Paul (9 wins – 1 loss) must undergo major tests before the fight to materialize at AT&T Stadium in Texas Arlington on July 20, 2024.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) urged Tyson to undergo or pass a brain test Electroencephalography (EEG) and Electrocardiogram (EKG) for the heart.

“A person aged 36 or older applying for a contestant’s license must submit a report of favourable physical testing conducted within the previous 12 months, including but not limited to an EEG and an EKG.” TDLR elaborated.

Meanwhile, the American youtuber explained that he picked Tyson because he wants to change the history of boxing. He already fought Floyd Mayweather Jr but he lost.
