WBC hails Pacquiao as “Hero of Humanity”; Shawn Porter Returns

The World Boxing Council hailed the Philippines’ fighting senator Manny Pacquiao as a “Hero of Humanity” on his selfless act during this trying time, the pandemic that are engulfing different nations.

“This action was inspired by world champions globally but none better or more giving than Sen. Manny Pacquiao. He not only received a medal of humanity but our love and thanks and those of his countrymen,” said Jill Diamond, the chairperson of WBC Cares.

“Sen. Pacquiao provides food, money and even buses for those in need. There is no greater hero and role model. He is not only a world champion but a champion of the world.”

Along with Pacquiao were over 220 awardees around the globe to acknowledge their support and effort in the current situation.

In the other news, Shawn Porter is going to be back in the boxing ring after a year of absence. Porter will be seen in action on August 22 against Sebastian Formella for the IBF and WBC title eliminator.

Porter last fought Errol Spence in which the winner should fight Pacquiao, originally.

The return of Porter will be PBC’s bet along with the title defense of Erislandy Lara in the main event.

Currently, Porter has 30 wins including 17 knockouts, three defeats and one loss while Formella is unbeaten with 20 wins with half via knockouts.

Two-weight world Mexican champ Luis Nery (35 wins – 1 loss – 0) mocked the undefeated “Japanese monster” Naoya Inoue (26 wins – 0 loss) as ordinary and overrated hyping their fight at Tokyo Dome in Japan May 6, 2024.

31-year old Inoue will defend his undisputed super bantamweight title against Nery.

29-year-old challenger Nery has the WBC and Ring magazine bantamweight titles plus the WBC super bantamweight title from 2020 to May 2021.

On the other hand, the undisputed Inoue who holds WBA and IBF titles plus WBC and WBO belts has never lost except a decision with Filipino ‘flash’ Nonito Donaire last 2011.

Former UFC fighter Francis Ngannou accused AJ camp of ‘trickery’ when he suffered devastating knockdowns in the first and second round last March 8, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The MMA fighter and former UFC heavyweight champion said that AJ camp sabotaged him by letting him go early in the arena.

“We both fought at 3am. What I think, something that’s happened is that they get me to the arena very early. Like my pickup time was 10.30pm to go to the arena. And then when we get to the arena, they tell us that we are scheduled around 1.45am. right?” Ngannou blurted.

He believed that he came exhausted, which resulted in his humiliating defeat.

Texas Department urges Mike Tyson to pass EEG, EKG tests

The 57-year old legend Mike Tyson (50 wins – 6 loss) vs 27-year old YouTuber Jake Paul (9 wins – 1 loss) must undergo major tests before the fight to materialize at AT&T Stadium in Texas Arlington on July 20, 2024.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) urged Tyson to undergo or pass a brain test Electroencephalography (EEG) and Electrocardiogram (EKG) for the heart.

“A person aged 36 or older applying for a contestant’s license must submit a report of favourable physical testing conducted within the previous 12 months, including but not limited to an EEG and an EKG.” TDLR elaborated.

Meanwhile, the American youtuber explained that he picked Tyson because he wants to change the history of boxing. He already fought Floyd Mayweather Jr but he lost.
