Hindi hinayaan ni Saul “Canelo” Alvarez na umabot pa sa scorecards ang laban matapos i-knockout si Sergey Kovalev sa 11th round para sa kanilang light heavyweight title match, ang main event sa MGM Grand Arena.

Isang malakas na left hook ang binitawan ni Canelo upang mahilo ang kalaban bago sundan ng isa pang straight right hand na naging sanhi nang pagtulog ni Kovalev sa lubid ng ring.

Dahil sa nakuhang light heavyweight belt ni Canelo ay kasama na siya mga boksingerong Mehikano na humawak ng apat na titulo sa iba’t ibang dibisyon.

Nariyan sina Juan Manuel Marquez, Jorge Arce, Erik Morales at ang Mexican-American na si Oscar Dela Hoya, na siya ring may-ari ng Golden Boy Promotions, ang promoter ng labanang Canelo-Kovalev.

Patuloy ang pag-ukit ng 29-anyos na si Canelo sa kanyang kasaysayan sa boxing at muli nitong pinatunayan na sya ng best pound-for-pound boxer sa buong mundo.

Nakwestyon bago mangyari ang labanan ay ang kanilang timbang dahil umakyat ng dalawang dibisyon si Alvarez, mula middleweight patungong light heavy, upang hamunin ang dating kampeyon na si Kovalev ng Russia.

Si Canelo pa lamang ang pangalawang nakagawa nito matapos unang gawin ni boxing great Bernard Hopkins noong 2011.

Bukod pa rito ay sya rin ang pangalawang Meksikano sunod kay Andy Ruiz Jr., na naging kampeyon sa heavyweight division.

Former UFC fighter Francis Ngannou accused AJ camp of ‘trickery’ when he suffered devastating knockdowns in the first and second round last March 8, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The MMA fighter and former UFC heavyweight champion said that AJ camp sabotaged him by letting him go early in the arena.

“We both fought at 3am. What I think, something that’s happened is that they get me to the arena very early. Like my pickup time was 10.30pm to go to the arena. And then when we get to the arena, they tell us that we are scheduled around 1.45am. right?” Ngannou blurted.

He believed that he came exhausted, which resulted in his humiliating defeat.

Texas Department urges Mike Tyson to pass EEG, EKG tests

The 57-year old legend Mike Tyson (50 wins – 6 loss) vs 27-year old YouTuber Jake Paul (9 wins – 1 loss) must undergo major tests before the fight to materialize at AT&T Stadium in Texas Arlington on July 20, 2024.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) urged Tyson to undergo or pass a brain test Electroencephalography (EEG) and Electrocardiogram (EKG) for the heart.

“A person aged 36 or older applying for a contestant’s license must submit a report of favourable physical testing conducted within the previous 12 months, including but not limited to an EEG and an EKG.” TDLR elaborated.

Meanwhile, the American youtuber explained that he picked Tyson because he wants to change the history of boxing. He already fought Floyd Mayweather Jr but he lost.

Victor Wembanyama hits Tim Duncan, O’ Neal records

Victor Wembanyama broke a record of 100 blocks as a rookie last January 8, 2024 in Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, Cleveland, Ohio vs Cavaliers.

Spurs center and power forward Wemby has played 31 games so far and his 4th block on the said game made him the 6th player in NBA history to reach that mark in their first 35 games.

The NBA records show that Wemby (2023-24) hit Tim Duncan at the 6th place as a rookie with the most games played. Shaq had 28 and Alonzo Mourning 18 in 1992-93.

The other NBA players who also reached that 100 blocks record as rookie are Shawn Bradley (1993-94), Alonzo Mourning (1992-93), Shaquille O’Neal (1992-93) Manute Bol (1985-86), Terry Tyler (1978-79).
