Another Filipino boxer is set to fight this coming week in the American soil in the name of Mark Magsayo.
Bearing the Philippine flag under the pride Manny Pacquiao Promotions, Magsayo will face Mexican Rigoberto Hermosillo for the main event at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
The camp of the Filipino side is on a high hope that Magsayo will preserve his unbeaten record of 20 wins with 14 knockouts especially being under the care of legendary trainer Freddie Roach.
Roach who is the long-time partner of Pacquiao has been imparting knowledge to the young fighter since January where they first met as partner in training.
“I am so very grateful that I am going back to training with coach Freddie, because I enjoy training with him, and I am learning a lot every time,” said Magsayo from an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
His opponent, meanwhile, holds a record of 11 wins, 2 losses and 1 no contest.
Magsayo is expected to deliver the aggressiveness against the Mexican who suffered his two losses on his last fights.
The fight will also be a measurement for how far he has grown under Roach.
Plans have been laid out for Magsayo as Sean Gibbons, the MP President, is eyeing the Filipino boxer to be a title contender as soon as possible.

Francis Ngannou cries ‘deception’ vs Anthony Joshua camp

Former UFC fighter Francis Ngannou accused AJ camp of ‘trickery’ when he suffered devastating knockdowns in the first and second round last March 8, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The MMA fighter and former UFC heavyweight champion said that AJ camp sabotaged him by letting him go early in the arena.

“We both fought at 3am. What I think, something that’s happened is that they get me to the arena very early. Like my pickup time was 10.30pm to go to the arena. And then when we get to the arena, they tell us that we are scheduled around 1.45am. right?” Ngannou blurted.

He believed that he came exhausted, which resulted in his humiliating defeat.
