Tommy Fury silences Jake Paul, deals first career defeat

Jake Paul finally found himself a stronger opponent in Tommy Fury as the latter gave the former his first-ever loss in boxing.

The fight was scored 75-74 for Paul, 76-73 for Fury, and 76-73 for Fury for a split decision victory at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia.

“Tonight I made my own legacy, I made my own legacy.”

“For the past this is all that has consumed my life! Everybody thought I was running scared but tonight I make my own legacy! This was for you Bambi I love you!” The younger brother of heavyweight king Tyson Fury said in the post-fight interview.

Present in the much-awaited fight aside from Tommy’s older brother Tyson were Mike Tyson and Christiano Ronaldo.

But despite the win, Tyson Fury loses a bet as he predicted a Tommy knockout victory over Paul.

The WBC heavyweight champ lost 100,000 euros.

However, the built rivalry will not end yet as shortly after the fight, both fighters agreed for a rematch.

Paul acknowledged in the run-up to the bout that his contract has a rematch clause for a subsequent fight later this year. Paul and Fury both expressed excitement about the possibility of a rematch after the fight, which would happen before the end of 2023.
