The Perfect Uppercut: Davis vs. Santa Cruz

Published

on

The perfect uppercut doesn\’t exist until the sixth round of the Gervonta Davis and Leo Santa Cruz showdown, wherein fans were finally allowed to watch the match live.
The excitement brought by the limited fans inside the Alamodome ignited the power exchanges of both champions.
Davis’ power shot sent Santa Cruz to sleep before he rode the fans’ roar to celebrate his victory.
He retained his WBA lightweight champion while making Santa Cruz\’s junior lightweight belt.
Davis entered the fight with a Mexican style outfit to honor his adviser and promoter Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Mayweather wore the same style during his fight against Oscar Dela Hoya.
It was a fitting entrance to Davis, as Santa Cruz is also a pride of Mexico.
Comparing the style inside the court, Davis has more power while Davis throws more punches.
The difference between the two was evident during their close-range fight at the rope.
It was a warrior moment for them. Santa Cruz connected a strong right hand; however, Davis closed in head-to-head that his next punch was hidden from Santa Cruz\’s sight.
He unleashed the perfect uppercut, the perfect hit, and the possible knockout of the year.
It was an excellent showing for Davis to finally settle the debate on who is the best in their division.
He improved his record to 24 wins with 23 knockouts.
While Santa Cruz dropped his second defeat with 27 wins and one draw when fighting.
But despite the malicious intent to destroy his opponent inside the ring, Davis showed sportsmanship and professionalism after the fight as he checked on Santa Cruz to make sure he is okay.
His victory was heard around the globe. Famous personalities from different sports lauded Davis on his fantastic performance.
The fighter under the supervision of the unbeaten retiree Mayweather is quickly becoming a superstar in boxing. Thus, he will make a case soon enough for the pound-for-pound king.
