The current number 1 pound-for-pound boxer Saul “Canelo” has officially parted ways with the Golden Boy Promotions headed by Oscar Dela Hoya and streaming partner DAZN after filing cases for the alleged breach of contract.
It was a severe roadblock for the Mexican boxer as his former contract with DAZN was the highest ever by a boxer, a $513 million for 11 fights to be televised by the online broadcast.
However, Canelo and DAZN had reached an agreement in which all parties will be satisfied. It also allows the four-division world champion to continue his boxing journey and start a new tandem with whoever he may choose.
His manager, Eddie Reynoso, confirmed the information in a statement he released.
“In my role as a manager and coach of Canelo Alvarez, I allow myself to communicate to the boxing community and all our fans, that starting today, November 6, Canelo becomes a free agent,” he wrote.
The top boxer in the world right now has no promotions and broadcast partners. This is a huge opportunity for other promotions and streaming platforms to lure the brightest star today. Top Rank, Matchroom, and even Mayweather Promotions may court Canelo immediately. As well as networks like ESPN and Showtime.
\”So we are ready to continue with his boxing career. All this time, we have been working very hard in the gym with a lot of responsibility and discipline to be in excellent physical shape and ready to fight this year.
\”And it will be [this year]! We will announce the date, rival, and place very soon, and we will return strong than ever to keep growing and showing that Mexican boxing is the best,” he said.
Alvarez has yet to fight this 2020 after winning the light heavyweight belt against Sergey Kovalev last year.

Former UFC fighter Francis Ngannou accused AJ camp of ‘trickery’ when he suffered devastating knockdowns in the first and second round last March 8, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The MMA fighter and former UFC heavyweight champion said that AJ camp sabotaged him by letting him go early in the arena.

“We both fought at 3am. What I think, something that’s happened is that they get me to the arena very early. Like my pickup time was 10.30pm to go to the arena. And then when we get to the arena, they tell us that we are scheduled around 1.45am. right?” Ngannou blurted.

He believed that he came exhausted, which resulted in his humiliating defeat.
