NBA Draft 2020: Edwards goes top pick, Ball in third

Published

on

The 2020 NBA Draft has been concluded, and Anthony Edwards was this year\’s number one overall pick courtesy of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Edwards played with the Georgia Bulldogs during his NCAA days, where he averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.
His rookie was very impressive, and he declared for the NBA draft as soon as the college season was over.
Edwards is listed as 6 feet and 5 inches tall and weighing 225 pounds. He plays the shooting guard position.
He can be described as aggressive and athletic; however, he has a lot to prove in Minnesota.
The Timberwolves have drafted several top picks in recent years, Andrew Wiggins and Karl Anthony Towns, to be exact. However, even the number one overall pick can be traded away. They shifted Wiggins, the 2014 top pick, in exchange for the second overall pick of the 2015 draft, D’Angelo Russell, last season.
It will be pressure on Edwards. This year\’s draft is not as loud as the 2019 rookies.
If he will protect his title as the top pick, he needs to impress the management and change the team.
He is not expected to carry the team, but he is expected to complement the two rising superstars, Towns and Russell.
Edwards has to improve his outside shooting as he shot only 29.4 percent from the three-point line during college.
Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors picked James Wiseman as the second overall pick. Wiseman is 7’1” who represented the Memphis Tigers in the NCAA.
He is expected to be the third pick, but the Warriors chose him over LaMelo Ball, who came next.
Wiseman played under Stephen Curry\’s invitational for collegiate players, and now he will be playing alongside the two-time MVP.
Wiseman is a good pick up for the Warriors as he will be the recipient of Draymond Green and Curry’s lob passes.
LaMelo Ball, the youngest of the Ball brothers, came in as the third overall pick chosen by the Charlotte Hornets.
Ball did not go to college instead, he played overseas. Michael Jordan, the owner of the Hornets, had the stamp of approval for getting Ball.
The skinny 6’7” guard has been observed since he was a little. He was projected to be the top pick. He battled with Zion Williamson during their high school days.
LaMelo is the second Ball playing in the NBA right now as Lonzo, the older Ball, is already playing with the New Orleans Pelicans.
They are the highest pick for a brother in the history of the NBA. Lonzo came second overall in the 2017 draft.
In terms of what he can do on the floor, LaMelo is a good passer. His basketball IQ will be his main asset, but he needs to improve his physique to match up with NBA players.
