Filipinos are known as great boxers with the likes of Manny Pacquiao of course and
Nonito Donaire Jr.
Donaire made himself known once again recently after capturing his old bantamweight
belt by defeating Nordine Oubaali.
Now then, the OG is about to make his defense on his belt but not just to anybody, he
will do it against his fellow kababayan John Riel Casimero.
Casimero and Donaire will clash in a unification bout in bid to fight Naoya Inoue next.
Both are eager to face Inoue as Donaire lost to him while Casimero wants to prove that
the Japanese superstar is not a “monster” as they used to call him.
But before they be able to do their things against Inoue, they will clash first inside the
boxing ring. This is a rare opportunity and many Filipinos are not happy with it because
they can’t pick who they will cheer on.
History is set to unfurl in Philippine boxing.
Out of the blue, two Filipinos are set for a bantamweight unification match as World
Boxing Council (WBC) champ Nonito Donaire crashes against World Boxing
Organization (WBO) titleist John Riel Casimero on August 14 at a site to be resolved.
Showtime will broadcast the match as the headliner of a triple header.
Donaire himself declared the news on his online media pages on Sunday, with
Casimero affirming the battle by posting two Philippine banner emoticons with an \’x\’ in
the middle on Twitter around the same time.
Casimero moreover retweeted a tweet declaring his battle against Donaire.
The 31-year-old Casimero should confront Guillermo Rigondeaux on August 14, yet the
Cuban fighter chose to give route for the all-Filipino conflict.
Apparently, Rigondeaux will confront a rival to be resolved on the Donaire-Casimero
undercard. On the off chance that Rigondeaux wins that battle, he could challenge the
champ among Donaire and Casimero.
\”The Filipino Flash\” Donaire recaptured the WBC belt subsequent to taking out French
Nordine Oubaali last month. The 38-year-old games a 41-6 success misfortune card
with 27 knockouts.
Then again, \”Quadro Alas\” Casimero last battled in September last year when he
scored a TKO prevail upon Ghanaian Duke Micah. Casimero conveys a 30-4 record

Crawford to retire soon – Eddie Hearns

Canelo Alvarez ex-promoter Eddie Hearns predicts that Terrence Crawford will retire after his victory vs Israil Madrimov last August 3, 2024 in Los Angeles.

Crawford is now the 4-division champ after winning by unanimous decision.

However, Hearns said that three fighters are a must fight against Crawford before hanging his gloves – Vergil Ortiz, Jaron Ennis, and Canelo.

“I don’t think Crawford wants a Boots fight. I don’t think Crawford will fight again unless he fights Canelo Alvarez because he’s got money, he’s getting on [in age],” Hearns revealed.

He added that Crawford ducks Ortiz. He also mocked him for getting lucky with the scoring for his fight against Madrimov.

Hearns underscored that 36 year old Crawford is craving for mega-money, mega-fights, and real legacy fights that is why he does not like to fight the undefeated Ennis. He furthered that 27 year old Ennis is like the young Crawford version that is why he is skipping him.

Meanwhile, Crawford still hates Ennis because he is overrated.
