Meanwhile, Pound-for-pound King
Canelo Alvarez is reportedly eyeing to take the vacant WBC super-middleweight
belt on his next fight. Canelo was supposed to fight Billy Joe Saunders,
however, conflicts arises as Saunders found guilty for misconduct on his viral
video.
The
WBC super-middleweight belt was vacated after its former owner David Benavidez
failed to make the weight on his recent fight against Roamer Alexis Angulo.
While
Benavidez won the fight, he won’t regain the belt, thus, it is now up for
grabs.
However,
promoter Oscar Dela Hoya of the Golden Boy don’t want Canelo to fight Benavidez
for the vacant belt. Benavidez is unbeaten on 24 wins with 20 via knockouts.
Nonetheless, he is still young compared to the veteran Alvarez.
Progress
for the possible fight has yet to be released as of the posting of this video.
