Another tragic incident filled the boxing and sports community after Patrick Day passed away four days after his fight due to brain injuries he sustained.

Day, 27 years old, fought Olympian Charles Conwell and was stopped in the 10th round via technical knockout (TKO).

He was stretched out of the ring and was quickly delivered to the hospital. However, he never regained consciousness.

\”On behalf of Patrick\’s family, team, and those closest to him, we are grateful for the prayers, expressions of support and outpouring of love for Pat that have been so obvious since his injury. He was a son, brother, and good friend to many. Pat\’s kindness, positivity, and generosity of spirit made a lasting impression with everyone he met,” said Lou DiBella, his promoter, in a statement.

Day was the fourth unfortunate boxer who died this year due to injuries on or after their fights.

His opponent, Conwell, delivered a heartfelt message on social media regarding Day’s condition before he died.

\”I never meant for this to happen to you. All I ever wanted to do was to win. If I could take it all back I would. No one deserves for this to happen to them. I replay the fight over and over in my head thinking what if this never happened and why did it happen to you. I can\’t stop thinking about it myself. I prayed for you so many times and shed so many tears because I couldn\’t even imagine how my family and friends would feel. I see you everywhere I go and all I hear is wonderful things about you,” he wrote.

Francis Ngannou cries ‘deception’ vs Anthony Joshua camp

Former UFC fighter Francis Ngannou accused AJ camp of ‘trickery’ when he suffered devastating knockdowns in the first and second round last March 8, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The MMA fighter and former UFC heavyweight champion said that AJ camp sabotaged him by letting him go early in the arena.

“We both fought at 3am. What I think, something that’s happened is that they get me to the arena very early. Like my pickup time was 10.30pm to go to the arena. And then when we get to the arena, they tell us that we are scheduled around 1.45am. right?” Ngannou blurted.

He believed that he came exhausted, which resulted in his humiliating defeat.
