Floyd Mayweather to take an exhibition match against YouTuber Logan Paul

2020 has yet to stop putting up surprises and this time it is about the unbeaten and retired Floyd Mayweather Jr. who reportedly was in talk to fight an exhibition match against YouTube personality Logan Paul in December.
Sources close to Mayweather verified the situation, however, they added that Mayweather is likely to say ‘no’ and the deal is far from being signed.
Although in an ambush interview, Logan Paul expressed his interest to make the fight possible.
While this will not count professionally, Mayweather and Paul will surely do it just for the cash involved and entertainment.
Mayweather last fight was also an exhibition against a Japanese kickboxer while Logan Paul clashed with fellow YouTuber and rival KSI.
Even if the deal somehow managed to pull through, it may look a little off. The height and weight difference are very evident as Paul stands at 6 foot 2 inches and weighs 198.5 pounds. This is a huge disadvantage to Mayweather who is only 5 foot 8 inches and 158 pounds in the scale.
Added to the question is will it be attracting to the viewers at home? It may look different if it will be held with fans but with the pandemic they are not sure whether this fight will click.
Entertainment or action? Currently the boxing community is on a tough situation as they are failing to generate enough views compared to other combat sports. Will this fight be the answer or will it be another bust for boxing?

Undisputed heavyweight champ Usyk gets detained

Polish airport police arrested and detained Ukrainian undisputed heavyweight champ Oleksandr Usyk in Krakow after he insisted on a Ryanair flight last September 18, 2024.

It happened when the Usyk team was denied boarding in the Polish airport. They are heading to London to watch Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois on September 21 (UK time).

Usyk’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk confirmed the incident. “While waiting for boarding, Oleksandr’s friend fell asleep on the seats in the waiting area,” Usyk promoter revealed.

The video clips went viral in social media as the 37 year old and undefeated Usyk (22 – 0) is being led away with his hands cuffed behind his back.

Warriors picks 7-footer Quinten Post

The Dutch rookie 7-footer power forward and center Quinten Post officially signed with the Golden State Warriors (GSW) last September 25, 2024 with two-way contract.

Along with fellow 7-footer NBA players Boban Marjanović of the Houston Rockets, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, Zach Edey of the Memphis Grizzlies, and Bol Bol of the Phoenix Suns, the 24-year old Post will soon clash with the tallest players in the NBA.

Post is a 2024 NBA draft and 52nd pick, however Warriors get him ahead of training camp.

He came from the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Boston College Eagle during his college years.

He is averaging 15.1 points in 2022-2023 and 17.0 points in 2023-2024.

Crawford to retire soon – Eddie Hearns

Canelo Alvarez ex-promoter Eddie Hearns predicts that Terrence Crawford will retire after his victory vs Israil Madrimov last August 3, 2024 in Los Angeles.

Crawford is now the 4-division champ after winning by unanimous decision.

However, Hearns said that three fighters are a must fight against Crawford before hanging his gloves – Vergil Ortiz, Jaron Ennis, and Canelo.

“I don’t think Crawford wants a Boots fight. I don’t think Crawford will fight again unless he fights Canelo Alvarez because he’s got money, he’s getting on [in age],” Hearns revealed.

He added that Crawford ducks Ortiz. He also mocked him for getting lucky with the scoring for his fight against Madrimov.

Hearns underscored that 36 year old Crawford is craving for mega-money, mega-fights, and real legacy fights that is why he does not like to fight the undefeated Ennis. He furthered that 27 year old Ennis is like the young Crawford version that is why he is skipping him.

Meanwhile, Crawford still hates Ennis because he is overrated.
